Did you have to register BFG 8800 GT's to get the extended warranty ?

Thinking of bidding on a couple of used 8800gt oc cards but the seller says the cards have not been registered and he has no receipt.

Anyone know if they will be under warranty ?

BFG warranty isn't "worth the paper its printed on".

You will need proof of purchase regardless to activate the warranty - if it was bought before the 21st Feb 2008 then you get automatic lifetime/10 years, if its after that you have to register at the time of purchase otherwise its only 2 years.

Personally I say don't bid on them... BFG cards are dropping like flies atm and the RMAs seem to be just as dodgy.

To get an RMA through BFG you have to register the product on their website - and it won't let you do that until you upload, fax or post proof of purchase.

Take a look at the BFG RMA thread below tho... (I have 3 experiences with them myself, once for one of my cards and twice with a friends SLI pair which died within days of each other) the warranty isn't worth anything.

BFG's warranty service is a joke.

Buy them if they are good value, but don't buy them if you want good warranty support.

I have a BFG 8800GTX bought before feb 2008 and still have to send proof of purchase but I lost the reciept years ago.
