Ok, i installed my scythe a few weeks ago and im very impressed with it.

One thing is bugging me though, when i installed it, i just removed the normal socket 939 plastic bracket, and screwed on the Ninja one.

In the book it says to use the backplate, But i didnt because the screws fitting the existing nuts coming through my board ??

Im not sure if im killing my mobo by not using the backplate

Did anyone else not install the backplate ?

And does it need to be installed on my board ?

Many Thanks

Ahh so i dont need it :)

Thanks very much for the replies lol, its made me feel a lot better now :D

I just thought the clips were a bit hard to get on, but i suppose they need to be like that for a nice snug fit,

Thanks all

if it has a backplate and it fits, then no you dont. the back plate that comes with the scythe is only really of benifit to people who have some non-cofming backplate on their boar,d or for the people who have no metal backplate at all like me lol.

Yep its mostly the Skt939 Gigabyte boards that dont come with a standard metal backplate, they use a plastic one... :|

There have been some probs with the ninja back plates in that they cause the boards to short - think its been fixed now but i didnt bother with the backplate as original one was secure enough in my opinion
