They any good?

There's a estate near me. 115k miles 06 plate.

What's to know?

I've got a 220. Miles arnt an issue but I've recently got a small inflatable boat and no matter how I fold it I can't fit it in the 220 without putting the seats down.

I was thinking of getting the st220 paint repaired and storing it. Do you think the 220 will be desirable? It's the last ford Europe v6. Mine is mechanically sound. Both sub frames have been off and wire brushed and painted. Do you think if I garaged it for a few years it'd likely to appreciate?

With the 2.0 and 2.2 TDCI engines (I've had both) I'd look at the following things that failed on mine but there's bound to be more - Sticking Injectors - Clutch/DMF - EGR Coked - Lower Boost Pipe.

Sticking Injectors - Rough running at start with blue smoke from the exhaust, both clear after 3-10 seconds, IIRC about £100 (refurb) to £330 (new) per injector to fix.

Clutch/DMF - Rattles badly when pedal depressed and judders on pull off or initial acceleration but stops after 1-2 secs - £800+ for a new set.

EGR Coked - Take it off and clean it yourself for free and consider a blanking plate to prevent further coking issues.

Lower Boost Pipe - On the lower passenger side of the engine, the boost pipe can splits losing all pressure and spraying soot all over the fan/radiator.

As for ST220 prices, No idea :)

Is the ST220 going up in Value?

All cars hit a rock bottom price with age, whether they recover or not depends on many factors.

I think the ST220 has passed rock bottom now & is increasing, I bought mine for £2k back in 2017 and have had no issue getting a guaranteed value of £5.5k on it in the last couple of years from insurers. They have hit the point where they are getting harder to keep on the road though with some parts now being unavailable so personally I don't see them as a viable daily driver. We're at the point now where loads will cease to exist over the next 5 years as daily driver ST220's get scrapped or stripped for parts leaving only the decent ones left.

As for the 2.2 ST, it's got the standard diesel parts apart from the body kit & optional Recaro's, the Titanium X 2.2 was a better car as it had a higher spec than the ST-TDCi, climate seats were a big bonus.
