I got told by a race car specialist(so he claims) with a rolling road, that some of these boxes are bad for the fuel pump and the injectors...

I have a DTUK CRD2(Red Box) and was just wondering if theres any truth in his words and if the DTUK falls in to the badness category?

Anyone know what the safe limit of bhp and torque for an Isuzu based 1.7CDTi as used in Vauxhalls?

Thanks :o

No one would touch the car as it has a Denso ECU, mappers prefer the 1.7CDTi with the Bosch ECU :(

The DTUK box has an adjuster from 1-9 but so I put it on 3 :p

Most (read, not all) tuning boxed fool the map by altering the fuel pressure sensor into delivering more fuel.

Over time, this can kill fuel pumps (both low and high pressure) and injectors and even make ECU's go a bit crazy (they'll log all sorts of errors).

Much better to get a re-map if possible.

1) But which are the good and the bad tuning boxes?

2) I've heard that from a local rolling road company

3) No remap companies will touch a Denso ECU :p

I assume this isnt one of those resistors or doom from Ebay? Do you still have the Corsa?

No, whats a resistor of doom?

Yeah still do :o

Cable tied the box down now :p

What gain do you get from that box on the corsa? How well does a 1.9 CDTi SRi 150 bhp engine rempap?

Not tried? Other 1.7cdti owners have claimed 140hp but I doubt it.

1.9CDTi with a map/tuning box the claims have been as far as 190-210bhp from what I've read on forums

Draeger

I dont know if this has the Harry or Sally maps, is there any way to tell?...It looks an old fashioned one to me, but then I don't know if the new ones look different...

All I know is it came off a Corsa SRi 1.7CDTi that had done around 65k and I'm the 3rd owner of the box :o

But never heard of any reported problems. I know these can push fuel injectors harder etc, but the Isuzu lump is good for 135hp as a rule from what I read, but perhaps this is the wrong way to achieve that figure?
