I'm looking at going on a diet as I seriously need to lose some weight. More than some really. According to my BMI I need to lose about 11 stone to be my ideal weight :o

I'm going to join a gym, but I also know that drastically altering my eating habits is going to be neccessery in order to help me get there. I did try the Slimfast diet a couple of years back. It was actually working for a while, I did shed quite a bit of weight in a reasonable amount of time. But lack of exercise and slipping back into bad eating habits while on the diet ended up ruining my efforts. I'm tempted to try the slimfast approach again, but I'm wondering if there are any otheres worth going for. I know theres Weight Watchers, but I've never been a big fan of their ready meals. I also found a company called Diet Chef, that sends you out a hamper of breakfasts/lunchs/dinners/snacks that you select yourself, but its about £215 per month. Just a bit more than im happy to pay...

Anyone else know any alternatives?

How much do you weigh?

24 stone, 5 pounds. I've always been on the chubby side, but I never used to be anywhere this big. I remember in 2006 when I was recovering from my operations from my chrons disease, I was a 32 inch waist. God how did I go from that to this... v.v

First off if you need to lose 11 stone speak with your dr before doing a quick fix diet.

I'm already planning to see a doctor early next week, since I'm having body issues which I think might be blood pressure related. I'm hoping to get some info from him on the subject.

I'm definetely going to join the gym. My dad did when he was diagnosed borderline diabetic and he's lost a ton of weight through it. I feel a little leery about swimming though. I don't like the idea of people seeing my man boobs diving into the pool. :o Maybe after I've lost some of the weight first.

Thanks all for the advice. I'm still leaning towards the slimfast diet, at least in the short term. But I'm going to speak to the doctor before I commit to anything in case he tells me I need to try something else instead.
