Difference between Freehouse & Public House?

Just been wondering what the difference between a Public House and a Freehouse is? Was able to find this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pub) on Wikipedia but didn't really help.

A public house is a pub.

A free house is a type of pub that is not owned by a brewery, and thus can freely serve what beers they like.

So can a pub(lic house) sell any beer from any brewery?
