I put in an order for the MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5. The site showed 9 in stock when I ordered but it shows out of stock now so I am waiting for a reply on whether it was actually in-stock or not.

Should it not be in stock and I have to change my order, what is the difference with this card? What is the DirectCU bit?

ASUS GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Strix 4096MB GDDR5 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/20-p...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-352-as.html

Also, I see a number of compact versions of the card listed. Is there a compromise in performance with the compact models?

Direct CU is just the cooler name, each manufacturer has their own version. MSI has Twin Frozr etc.

Asus card looks a better buy anyway, £11 cheaper and that's before you get £20 cashback. So £31 cheaper? Bargain.

A post in the customer service section should be able to help you change the order.

Thanks. Sent them a webnote saying basically if the first one is out of stock I'd rather get the alternative then. Let's see if they can do that.

Not too bothered about the £25 cashback as I'll probably never see it. I'm not in mainland UK. These things tend to never materialise when you live in little Gibraltar :)
