Difference between i7 and i7 1155 ?

Very little noticable difference between the 2 purely for gaming.

The processor you have now is actually fast enough for gaming along with that 6970.

Agree with this, your chip is fine, overclock it a bit more if you really want more speed. Good chance your chip would do 3.8-4GHz, at that speed it wouldn't really bottleneck any graphics cards.

You can overclock the 2500K, you can't (well not a lot) with the 2500.

Also the 2500K has a more powerful integrated graphics card (not that it makes much difference for a gamer with a discrete card).

Also, expect the resale price of the 2500 to be much lower than the 2500K, as not many people want a chip that can't OC.

However, to echo what the others have said - a Q9550 is an excellent CPU for gaming. Are you finding you are having performance issues with your current rig?

Hi, No my games seem very good :) just come from 2 X 4870 in Xfire to this 6970 very smooth game play, I thought maybe my X48 board and memory may be moving things around allot slower than say this new SandyBridge >
All i want to do is keep all things moving around at the correct speed so no BOTTLENECKS "if you see what i mean" ?
