Difference between LG 65EF950V and OLED65B6V

I have had a 65EF950V on order that should be ready at the start of August but can still cancel it.

I've just seen that the OLED65B6V has become available and it's not a huge amount more expensive... well, it's noticeable... but I'm wondering if it's worth it.

I can't find much information on the details of the new model though... even on LG's own website. Can anyone share some info or point me in the right direction please?

From the reviews I've read, I was sure the 65EF950V supports HDR... but it's not listed on LG's website. Whereas the OLED65B6V has it plainly displayed as a feature.

Is the new model worth the extra £1000 over the clearance deals on last years model?

I don't buy new TVs too often, so I'd rather pay the extra if the new one is worth it and HDR is one of the main reasons I'm upgrading now... so it's rather important to me.

Thanks

Looks like the newer B6 doesn't support 3D... while we don't watch 3D movies very often, we do once in a while... so that's a bit of a let down.

I was planning for a flat panel rather than curved.

Seems the C6 is 3D-capable, but it's a curved panel... but a little bit cheaper than the B6

Next model up with flat screen and 3D appears to be the E6 which is £4999... I didn't really want to spend that much.

65EF950V = £3000 (although I'm thinking of paying the £3299 price for 6 year warranty)
OLED65B6V = £4200
OLED65C6V = £4049
OLED65E6V = £4999

The new models are supposed to fix the mild banding/vignetting issues compared to last years models.

The 2016 sets are a vast improvement in many areas over the 2015 sets

I'm starting to think that too going by the few reviews around of the E6 and G6.

The C6 is starting to look like a good option although I'm tempted with the E6 as I wanted both a flat screen and 3D.

The curved is nice, but where I am now it's a bit too far from the TV for curved to be beneficial... although with coming back to the UK, UK rooms are quite a bit smaller - so I may actually see the benefit of a curved screen.

I just got £1400 back from the tax man too... that kinda makes up the difference :)

Now to figure out more details of the differences between the C & E.

The info on them that I have found so far is a little sporadic... I can't quite tell if it's just the G that has the increased image processing capabilities over the B, C & E... or if it's the E & G which are a little better than the B & C.

Something to do with the sound bar and associated gubbins gave them some extra headroom to use the spare processing power of faster internals to benefit some other places too.

That framed glass finish is almost swaying me toward the E6 by itself... I really like it.

But it's hard to justify the cost if it's *just* a nicer frame with a soundbar I'll never use.

There looks to be a difference in input lag between the models... the B6 being the slowest and the E6 is faster.

I can't tell if the C6 is as slow as the B6 or as fast as the E6.

That would make my mind up.

C6 same lag as E6 ,I have a B6 but don't game ,it really is a fantastic panel ,the image it produces is spectacular ,lg have stated there is no difference in picture quality across the range

That's good to hear.

Perhaps whatever is causing the latency is what the thing I read/watched was referring to.

Maybe it's somehow related to the 3D tech as that's the only real difference of the B6... but only speculating.

Think I'm sold on the C6 unless I can get a really really good deal on the E6... there's something about that bezel I crave... but wifey wants the curvey one.

I'll see if any of my local retailers have them on demo so we can go and see one in the flesh... so far we've only seen last years models in person.

Found the B6 special offer, so it's the same price as the C6... although with Richersounds you can get 3% quidco too, so that brings the price down a little bit more. Only thing is it's in-store only for the rebate and I don't think a 65" TV will fit in the back of my E46 and it defintely won't fit in car #2, even with the roof down...

The E6 pops up at £4500 once in a while seemingly, although I can't find anything other than a grey market unit for that price at the moment. For £4-500 extra I might be swayed towards the E6, but for £1000 an no appreciable benefit other than my desire for a flat screen and a pretty bezel (I won't use the sound bar) - it's a bit much.

I don't game on the TV regularly, but I'm getting an Xbox One S for 4K HDR blu-ray playback and I'll be getting at least Forza for it. Shouldn't really notice the lag too much in that game... but I'm quite sensitive to it, having had 120Hz & 144Hz PC monitors for years...

Just checked and I can get the E6 for £4600 over here... but I have no idea what LG warranty is like and with returning to the UK for the foreseeable future, it looks like it would make sense to purchase back home.
