Difference between navigation systems?

I have been looking at all the products on the market, and i am just windering why have more expencive units that do the same thing?

With tom tom, the only difference between products seems to be extra functionality not linked with navigation! I cant even see the main difference between the tom tom one and the tom tom go 300, is it just a memory card slot?

They all seem to have the same maps loaded aswell, so why buy a more expencive unit? I'm just curious!

The garmin and nav man product range has just confused me! Whats so good about thier range too?

The one is slimmer and has a better gps chipset, but the 300 has a better speaker. I had a 300 really nice, however became a pain to carry about so sold it and bought the mobile5 version for my phone which suited my needs better.

Although I do miss the speaker.

Just bought the 700 yesterday. I believe it has a hard drive too
