Difference between opteron and a64 3700 san diegos and above?

Am I right in thinking these chips are exactly the same? If so why on earth do they have differing names and prices?

opterons are hand picked for quality of chips, better silicon and low operating temps and volts, differences depends on what opteron you get. different ones have different multi's

Opterons are primarily designed as server chips, so their stability is paramount. They also have lower temps and better quality manufacture, purely because they need to be rock solid.

Workstation chips do not have to be as reliable as the server chips, so they may not be up to the same quality. But overall they are still good chips.
