So I am looking at getting a Noctua redux 140mm for my H440 and it will be run at around 900rpm connected to a 4 pin header on my z77 mpower.

I prefer the round design but it is 1500rpm so I will use the bios to run it slower. Would this be worse that running the 900rpm fan at full pelt?

I have bought many different fans over the years, looking for silence etc.

I have in the last couple of years, unless its for a totally silent build, getting higher RPM fans and using fan control/mobo headers whatever, to run them slower, and have the profile ramp up when stuff is at 70+, or whatever you deem to be a temp you want them to be at max.
Means summer months etc its much easier, as you can just run it a bit louder if its super hot.

Was a PITA having slow fans on my rads and my cpu overheating on super hot days if there wasnt a breeze through my flat.

I now have the 1500rpm one and it have it set to run at 50% in the bios. Sometimes increase it to 60% during gaming and can set it to 100% for when I need to rapidly remove heat from my case

Cant you use MSI command center, and have it set on smart mode, so that it will increase rpm at temp points you set? Means you dont have to bother doing anything yourself :D
