Ive just seen on overclockers that you can buy a q6600 @2.4ghz or you can buy a q6600 guranteed to work at 3.3ghz,

whats the difference in these if any???

Mike

Are they even pre-tested? I thought they just guaranteed another one if you couldn't hit the clock?
Waste of money buying "guaranteed" CPU's though. :)

None of the chips are pre-tested. All have the same chance of being the perfect clocker ;)

Are you saying OcUK don't bother testing them, they just stick their hand in and grab a dozen and say "Aha, I now guarantee these particular chips will reach 3.3. Those other chips I have left behind, I turn my nose at them, they are inferior."

Is Gibbo some kind of God? Can he just will the chips to hit 3.3Ghz? Is it sort of like the Matrix where he can see everything and make minute changes to the silicon?

Nope....he can, however, read batch numbers and via the cunning use of some witchcraft (google) read up on which batches are the best clockers :D;)

Like the above said. I think it means its guaranteed to run at [specified Ghz]. They provide you with the voltages etc too i think.

You also get a booklet with how to overclock and extra help if needed.

SMN - Your sig is to big - max 4 lines of std txt ;)

Is it not only guaranteed if you use a certain mobo/ram with it too though? The ones they use in the instructions?
