looking at the specs on websites im struggling to tell the difference except the £300 difference.

The KD-55XD9305 is the all singing and dancing top of the range version and has these which the other does not:

X-tended Dynamic Range PRO, Slim Backlight Drive
2160/50p, 2160/60p
More speakers/power

It really does have an exceptional picture and the is designed for all HDR sources with the highest quality. 2160/50p/60p gives you the ability to handle all UHD streams. This one will display the maximum resolution of Sky Q UHD. If you want the best picture and compatibility and some future proofing then this is the one to take.

I expect it to be good but not with the exceptional picture of the 9305. If you don't care about full 4K compatibility or top quality HDR it will be should ok for your needs.

The 65X8509 has a 10Bit panel and can do HRD 60\50\24 and it's backlit.
It also can do UHD and REAL 4K

and it's cheap now.
