This really ****es me off, why does gigabyte feel the need to release a bout ONE million different versions of the board? is 3 versions really not enough? shocking... /rant

Anyway, can someone please highlight the difference between ud3, ud3p, ud3h (3 versions of ud3...) ud4 and ud5 or even ud7 mainly?

i'm looking to spend about £160 up to £220 on a new mobo for 2600k, trying to make a decision!

Thanks guys.

I'm not sure about the P variants but only the H models have onboard graphics support.

it wouldnt surprise me if the only difference between the UD3 & UD3P is the colour scheme and an extra heatsink cuz i'll be buggered if I can find anything else to separate them

R used to mean RAID but that's standard across the range now so again i'm stumped

I used to understand their naming conventions

S means standard
UD meant Ultra Durable
R meant more SATA with RAID
and I think P was a heatpipe heatsink
H is HDMI I think

They release loads of boards so the vast majority of people can get one with all the features they want, but no extra ones they don't need. It's a good thing..... it just means you're gonna have to do some research to get the one that suits you best.

most manufacturers do the same thing but you rarely see all the variants on sale in a single country.

Each manufacturers HQ or their countries subsiduaries will decide which boards they want to focus on and the rest will only be available on special request

I'll be very surprised if you see the UD3, UD3H, UD3P & UD3R all for sale on OcUK

Z68- UD3P, UD4, UD5 and UD7 don't have onboard graphics support - they are just like the P67 counterparts. :(

There are some on the way that do - generally "H" versions - but when is anyone's guess.

Hopefully MSI will pull their finger out and beat them to the shops with some "real" mid-range Z68 boards...
