Hi there.

Im facing problems in the house with my connection, we used to have a cat5e cable running upstairs, but was an eye sore and had to be took away when we got new carpet.

I Added a wireless N card into my pc upstairs and am getting 4/5 or 5/5 bars everyday, but yet the net is still sluggish and remote desktop.

I noticed a difference straight away asyou would with changing from straight cat5e cable going from router to pc to Wireless.

Question is would i maybe get a boost or a difference if i put in power-line adapters ? i think i will if i do as this is what the BT vision is running on/by.

Please give me your views.
Cheers

Powerlines should be useful, but they are expensive and they do burnout if you overuse them.

Though that is my experience, with wireless simply broken here.

This just sounds like one of the pitfalls of wireless. Make sure you check that the "Wireless Mode" being out from your router is not mixed i.e n/g/b and change it to n only. This will improve your signal strength and hopefully get you 300 Mbit/s from your wireless card.

See thats the thing, its set like that- currently b/g/n , we currently have the BT home hub 2.0, and there is no 'N' setting, even tho it is a wireless 'N' Hub "/ BT really do get you points !!

Only options i get is :
b/g/n
b/g
b

Wow that sucks big time. Maybe you should consider buying a different router, I have never had much trust in the BT home hubs they are very limited.
