I have just ordered an Antec 900 and a Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus fan controller. However the fan controller comes in two colours: black and silver. I wanted black, to go with the Antec 900, however for some reason it is nearly £10 more expensive than the silver version! As you can see from the links below they look identical (bar colour), have identical spec and model names:

Black Version: LINK

Silver Version: LINK

Is this a mistake?

I'd guess that the black version is more desirable than the silver, so it's priced higher because people will pay it.

Also, I'm sure there's extra cost it making the black one, it's an aluminum face plate, right? The black would have to be adonised, the silver not.

The sillver is anodised as well, just no dye added before the oxide layer is hardened. It is an extra step to get a good quality black finish though

I used to machine stuff out of aluminium in my workshop, and anodise them as well. Hardest thing was to get a good black finish, other colours were not a problem.

I have the antec 900 and i'd go for the black everytime, infact does anyone wonna buy my silver DVD-RW..... lol

Nope. I'm in the same position, tossed out my Sony DVD/RW drive cos it was so damn slow and put my NEC drive back in. A great drive but it's silver! Waiting for OcUK to get the black stealth plates back in stock.
