What is the actuall benefit of the higher resolution?

I use a 32" 720p as my monitor and when playing games it looks perfectly clear to me.

I have thought about possibly buying a desktop monitor to play games on but I really dont want to get something like a 24" because it would just seem really small in comparison, although it would allow me to play at higher resolutions, what would I actually notice by playing the game in a higher resolution?

Thanks for the reply,

I thought that the browser would still utilize the entire screen size.

In terms of gaming would there be any more detail at a higher resolution, everyone is banging on about high res gaming but I dont think I would notice much difference at all besides the fact that I would probably need a newer GFX card and therefore have a lighter wallet.

I am currently using an HDMI straight to the tv and everything looks pretty clear to me.

Dont tempt me dammit! :p

With regards the two open browsers, its not enough to make me go out and buy a monitor for although if games look better I could be tempted. Are they going to be the cost of a new monitor and GFX card better though?

I first realized the difference when i looked at the rifle i was using in the new Battlefield game, when i turned the resolution up to 1080p i could see the tiny scratches on the gun and it was extremely crisp and clear, so there is a difference my friend.

When you say you first realized the difference I take it you have used a 720p tv as a monitor before?

I'm just wondering if its better to the point where its acceptable to spend out on a new monitor and gfx card, is the detail etc worth the spend?
