Well, I currently have a 5870, was wondering about grabbing a second one and crossfiring them, then though I'd compare the price to the 6000 series, wonder whether it was worth upgrading... and I see a vast selection in the 6000 series, from 6400-6900!

I find it hard to believe only the 6900 are decent cards for building your own gaming rig and the others are all non-gaming or low performance cards, could someone give a very brief rundown on the difference between the 6 different categories in the 6x00 series? :)

Also, opinions welcome on whether it'd be better for similar cost to get a second 5870 and CF, or sell that and get eg two 6950s (or another card) and CF them as I heard they perform a lot better in CF than the 5870s did.

Cheers!

I would call a 6850 mid-end, 6870, high-mid-end and 69xx high end cards.

To beat your one 5870, you would need a 2Gb 6950, to really beat it you would need to XFire them, but it is a lot of money for not much gain. Your best bet is to either wait a month or 2 for the new cards (jan-feb can't remember for the 7950?) or get another 5870 and go XFire. Personally I would wait as one good card is far less hassle than XFire (I run 2 6950's myself and have encountered no issue, but you hear plenty of stories)

I would guess that a 3Gb 7950 is probably going to be the sweet spot, but it really depends on the price.
