Hi few weeks ago a sent off my ATi 4870 and it was the version that looked like this >

I then received a card that looked like this

I was wondering does anyone know and differences with the card ? :)

Thanks

I have the same 4870 as your top picture and i think that the only difference in the two cards is just the heatsink is different. Do you know what temps you used to get with your old card and the temps with the newer cooler on?
It could be that saphire got a better deal on the newer cooler or that the newer cooler does a better job. My card idles at around 54-55 degrees which is pretty good for a 4870.

Edit: i was just looking at the bottom photo and it looks like the cooler in the top picture is more substantial so the original may be better at keeping temps down

My idles at around 64C (in a room with the heating on) This cooler at load seems to do just as good job when it comes to cooling with less noise :P

My pc is in a room with the heating on so maybe the cooler is not quite as good on the newer version but as long as it gives the same performance as the old card then all is good. One thing i find with my card is the fan gets a little noisy when playing some games. I recently bought GTA 4: stories from liberty city and it sounds like a hoover when i play that.
