Different block types

Are there any articles looking at the pro's or cons of the different types of water block materials?
Whilst researching, Im seeing Copper, nickel plexi, copper acetal, Nickel Acetal, pure nickel, all with massive differences in price - I know the EK blocks are popular, but Im wondering if there is a particular combination of materials that performs best, as I have read that pure copper is best, so why the others (which sometimes cost more)

So the plexi love on here is a fashion rather than performance thing.
Im going to look for copper with a plexi top unless the Raystorm performance charts refuse to let me buy anything else and I go for that..
