Different desktops?

Hi guys,

I currently have a Sony 19" TFT for my PC and a Sammy R74 LCD. Their both linked to my PC as I use the TV to watch films on through my PC. Howver they have different resolutions. One is 1280 x 1024 and the other is 1368 by 768 or something similar to that.

My question is, is there any software that allows you to set different desktops for each screen? Or allow different settings(desktop wise) for each screen? As one will either be squashed into the screen, or have grey bars either side where it isnt big enough for my tele :(

Is there anyway round this?

Sorry if this in in the wrong section, mods please move as appropriate.

Thanks in advance,

Benny C

Most of us use a program called Ultramon, it does allow different resolutions per screen. Not sure if you can have different desktop backgrounds though.

The drivers for your graphics card should be able to do this by default, certainly any nvidia or ATI drivers usually can. Just check out the display properties.

Thanks for you helps guys. Ideally I need to display one 1280x1024 image on one screen, and one 1368x768 on another, they dont need to be different images, although the dimentions would be. Just if you display a 1280x1024 image on a 1368x768 screen you get grey or black bars where the image isnt big enough, and the other way round a squashed image

Ah ok, I got the wrong end of the stick, I assumed you just meant setting different resolutions for multiple screens. As for setting different desktops, you probably can't do that without an additional app so try the one Boscher suggested.
