Different esxi version in the same cluster?

Is there any real problems if all hosts in a cluster dont have identical patch levels? So bringing in newly built servers, using the latest versions will live happily with older, neglected hosts that havent been kept upto date? (using same version esxi 5.0.0., just different kernal patch levels)

Does it matter that VM's are showing that their tools are out of date when hosts are upgraded? It's going to take along time to get some of these VM's updated due to no maintainance window for reboots.

It will be fine and at least when you get to 5.1 they won't require reboots for subsequent updates
