I'm after a new bluray player but I'm trying to fit it in to a fairly narrow space. Virtually every one I've looked at is 435mm wide . Does anybody know of any narrower ones please
I have one of these with a multi-region mod. Works really well and has a nice fast start-up. Feels a bit light-weight but haven't had any reliability problems. Disc mechanism can be a bit noisy in menus but quietens down once movie is actually playing.
Any of the Sony S series, I have the Sony BDP-S1700 as I only have a small space to fit it in. Depends on the features you want, just have a look on the comparison half way down the page.
Or you can go for LG BP250 its pretty much exactly the same.
Is the premium for a 4k Player very large now (thinking of pan 300 model) ?
since in terms of smart features (plex/iplayer/netflix/amazon) and maybe newer quieter mechanisms these may justify the premium, even if you are only using std 1080p blues for now.
4k players are down to 200 now. Pointless spending 200 to watch blurays though. The only thing that separates a 50 quid spinner from a 1k high end spinner is UI, legacy connections and build quality. The actual playback between the two is identical regardless of price (i've owned a number of both types).
I don't know if the Panasonic 4K player will do 4:4:4 chroma upscale even for 1080p output so that may give a better PQ.
Roku type capabilities are worth £50 built into the 4K machine too.
whether multi region blu-ray hacks are possible too (have some Criteriums & personally just do PC based blu-ray playback/dvdfab atm to workaround.)
