Different speeds on the same network?

Hi guys,

Bit of a strange one this.

My son and I are both connected to the same router via separate Ethernet cables.

My motherboard is newer of a higher spec and the machine is superior to his in every way.

When I do a speedcheck however.

He consistently gets around 180 MB of our 200 MB bandwidth.
Yet I only get around 90MB?

What could be causing this?

It seems okay this morning?

In answer to your questions though, I am using the on board Ethernet socket of my Steamroller x99 motherboard and I was getting 1GB showing as the throughput on the status panel.

All a bit odd. However, thanks for your help gents and apologies if I have wasted your time which it appears I may have done

Ask him to stop torrenting whilst you speed test?

Hehe, he was at work at the time the low speeds I was experiencing occurred whether his machine was on or off.
