different types of geforce cards?

what are the differences of the different geforce 7xxx variants available (ie, gtx, gs etc)?

but whats the difference between say the GS and GTX?

not much - a GS is a GTX that was not fit to be sold as a GTX so bits have been chopped off and what not - i think

so basically a GS is a cut away verstion of GT/GTO/GTX etc and there for is slower

okay in that case, whats preferable out of:

the 7900GS as its a higher series - it has more pipelines etc.

7900GS is much better.

However for that budget you can get a Radeon x1950pro which is better.

you could try typing in google eg "7900gs review" or whatever cards you are intrested in this will explain the diffrences between cards

basicly the dearer the better is how it usualy goes with some exceptions like the 7900gto

The 1950 is a better card. But the 7900GS overclocks well expecially after a volt mod

ATi: SE, <nothing>, GT, Pro, XT, XT-PE (rare), XT-X

Warnings:-

NVidia cards (a) with an 'FX' in there somewhere or (b) with a '2'! (e.g. FX5200)

ATi cards (a) with a number '6' or lower, without a '9' (e.g. x1300, x1650) or (b) that sound similar to a good card (e.g. 9550 sounds like 9500 Pro)
