different windows/router mtu

I've been messing around with mtu's for no particular reason really, as you do, my router is usr 9106. It's default mtu is 1500. I can change it via cli but cant get the change to stick when I reboot. Windows mtu is now 1458. So, if the windows mtu is 1458 does it matter if the routers is 1500?

Doubt it'll matter, as long as the router's MTU is larger than Windows', the router won't care.

cheers. I wondered about the router sending packets to the pc that were too large, but I'm sort of making this stuff up anyway. I'll leave it running and see what happens.
