DIFFERENT X1800XT CARDS

Yeah they make solid cards mate, but afaik most of the "brand name" AIB partners make reliable cards!

True, but then again i never said the others didn't. :D. Not many use the Japanese Capacitors on their cards though. I believe Club3d use them on some of their cards but not all. It's a nice addition that i like the sound of.

PowerColor is cheaper from OcUK and also PowerColor is a Tier1 partner to ATI wheres Club3D are not an official partner and actually buy their chips from the Tier1 partners.

So Club3D ideally should be avoided!

Ah didnt know that. Learn something new everyday.

Are ASUS and MSI cards top notch then? They seem to be more expensive than other cards. Powercolour have been at the cheaper end for years now. Do Asus and MSI get better cores or something, hence why the price is higher than the rest?

CORRSA, come to any conclusions yet ?

I think Asus & MSI get the same cores as everyone else. They are priced more due to brand recognition & that they also market other products, so arent completely reliant on card sales as other companies are (so dont need to market as aggressively).

No Asus and MSI cards aren't any better than other cards. Asus mobos are good but graphics cards I don't think so. Sapphire makes the best ATI cards with great o/cing results.

its funny how people change their tune, I bought my Club 3D x800pro (that where the only ones gauranteed to unlock as XT's) from OCUK a few years back on reccomendation from Gibbo on these forums . . . . . I think the real reason is Gibbo wants the sale and dont sell the Club brand, Id do the same I guess

I dont think so. Gibbo said to get a Club 3D x800 pro so you could flash it to an XT, thus saving you money as at the time it was the right buy. I got on the band wagon too by getting a Club 3D one.

Gibbo is basically saying now, you can get a cheaper card that is exactly the same, going to do the same job and from a better company who Idealy have better cores from ATi. Powercolour is a major player as Club 3D aint. Id rather get a Powercolour or a mjor branded card than a Club 3D one if I had the choice.

bennah, im very glad for the advice tbh, the x800pro gibbo reccomended is still working fine to this date (at XT speeds I might add) and becuase of his original advice I upgraded to the 7800GT from the same manufacturer after seeing this same link below, and yes its working at 450/1100Mhz with no problems at all, yes thats faster than a stock GTX.

this review is what sold it for me, see below
