So sitting in work I have a Intel s5000PSL server main board and have 1 Xeon E5430 and one E5410 now looking at their specs the only differnce is clock speed

Other than that they are identical. Do you think they would both run happily in that motherboard together?

I seriously doubt that will work.

They are also pretty weedy processors. The 5430 and 5410 have passmark scores of 3798 and 3284 respectively. My fanless Latitude 7370 with m7-6Y75 processor has a passmark of 3560.

I've always seen people refer to Xeon's as 'matched pairs' - I think they are supposed to come from the same batch code, let alone just be the same model.

Can be different batches, but as above I seriously doubt different models will work either.

Seeing as they already have it sat it front of him then is no harm in trying.
