Difficulty in obtaining keycaps.

For a long time I've been trying to get a set of replacement keycaps for my Corsair K95. The official UK layout set has been out of stock for way over a year with still no date on a restock.

Looking at aftermarket keysets there are some that have the correct bottom row but alas no UK layout set is available anywhere. I can't use a US layout set because some key locations are very different and will confuse other family members.

Ideas anyone?

Buy a cheap mechanical keyboard that you like the caps of, plenty of them around.

Not buying a new keyboard! I've had this one since new and it's still going strong. Besides, they don't make one with 18 g-keys anymore. I've looked at the K100 but people find it a faff to set up the g-keys and modes.

All I need for it is a new set of keycaps.

@Flabasaurus if you don't want to swap out the keyboard then maybe the answer is to buy 2 sets of keycaps (wasteful i know)
the US ANSI keycaps for the bottom row and then the UK ISO keycaps for the rest of the keys
this is assuming that the keycaps you buy have both versions and therefore will look identical once combined

Thanks @tamzzy . I've spent even more time hunting and finding two matched sets is proving even harder. If they're wrong trying to return would be a nightmare because so many are from sellers in China.

The only two that might match are some by Glorious on the OC site. I'm wondering what exactly the difference is between V2 and V3. That said buying two sets is an expensive way of fixing the problem.

@Flabasaurus were you looking at these sets?

Nearing the point of needing sunglasses because of keyshine. It's been used every single day for the last 12 years ish.
ouch lol
but at 12 years, it's had a very good run for its money

I'm wondering what exactly the difference is between V2 and V3.
this is what google has to say

Glorious Aura keycaps evolved from V2 to V3, primarily focusing on improved PBT material for better texture, thicker construction for improved sound (less hollow, more "thocky"), enhanced shine-through for RGB, and sometimes updated legends or kits to align with their broader GPBT line, offering a more premium feel and durability over earlier models. The V3 offers enhanced shine-through and PBT quality for a richer look and feel compared to the potentially thinner or more generic feel of V2.

Key Differences & Improvements (V2 to V3)
  • Material & Feel: V3s leverage Glorious's GPBT (Glorious PBT) for a textured, durable feel, while V2s might have been a slightly different PBT or even older ABS, leading to a less premium texture.
  • Shine-Through: V3s significantly improved the shine-through effect for RGB, making legends pop more vividly, which was a common enhancement for newer iterations.
  • Sound Profile: Thicker PBT in V3s generally results in a deeper, more satisfying "thock" sound compared to potentially thinner keycaps, notes Keychron.
  • Legends: Later versions (like V3) often feature cleaner, updated legends, improving readability and aesthetics over the potentially generic look of older caps.
  • Kits: V3 often comes in more comprehensive kits (GPBT Aura) with better compatibility for various keyboard sizes.
In essence, moving from Aura V2 to V3 is a step up in PBT quality, texture, RGB diffusion, and overall sound/feel, aligning with Glorious's push for higher-quality accessories in their lineup.

Thanks for that. Yes, those are the ones I've been looking at.

I think it might be worth a phone call and see if the v3 will be coming out as a big set including that critical bottom row.

Thanks @tamzzy . Had a look through their site and they don't list the V3 with the correct bottom row.

Tried again to contact Corsair and cannot get past the completely fluffing useless chatbot. It's honestly like talking to a politician, it won't answer any question you ask!

Back to square one.

Trawling secondhand keycap sets on ebay popped up a result; Steelseries Prismcaps. According to the compatibility list they fit the K70 Lux. This has the same bottom row as my K95 (which isn't listed perhaps due to the presence of G-keys).

I've ordered a set off the dreaded Amazon so we'll see if they fit.

They're also pudding style... as my user ID suggests, I like pudding.
