Can anyone help me out, i'm at the mercy of the overclocking guru's.

To cut a long story short I sold my trusted Dual core setup and bought a budget quad core and upgraded my memory and motherboard at the same time.

Now my past knowledge of overclocking was always increase the BUS and Adjust the multiplier on B.E. chips this is not possible for this particular CPU.

My question is I have DFi 790 GX Motherboard and Patriot 1066 DDR and was looking to reach 3.5Ghz from the chip but I seem to be encountering some issues, dont know if its the NB Frequency or the HT Link, everything as pretty much been kept on Auto but i'm getting no where.

Anyone got some assistance or a similiar setup and care to talk me through it PLEASE.

hi, i have the same cpu, athlon II quad 620. Ive only been able to achieve 3.4ghz and be completely stable running 100% 24/7 (seti@home) although i have had 3.5 for game play etc.

have you checked which component is restricting your clock? run prime95? memtest?

if its cpu, try increasing volts, if its memory related try reducing the nb & ht speed and/or increase volts. also check the speed&timings your memory is running at.

to achieve my oc i required a cpu v of 1.5v (1.4 stock) nb&ht multi x9. also had to increase nb voltage 1.23v. it gets hot so you may need to check temps, air flow etc.

currently at 13*262. let me know how you get on. you have a better mobo than me so you should see better stability.

Thanks for taking the time to help.

I have currently got the NB & HT Multi set to 8 keeping me at the 2000 Mhz.

CPU Multi is now set to 13 and bus is 250 = 3250Mhz at the moment.

Most things are set to auto, memory is volted at 2.1v and cpu 1.425v
My idle temps are <25 degrees and load < 45 degrees.

I have not changed any of the other voltage settings.

Does this help anyone in giving me some more assistance.

Thanks
