I know it would not, but there are people out there thinking it. Same as the ones who are going to pirate it rather then just abstain.

Worst thing is they dont care about the PC gamer... all the money is in consoles! We are more of a hindrance than anything!

Personally I think it's a disappointment, but it's the trend now. Big companies flock to the consoles and spit on the PC, while the more creative developers emerge via the PC. Rinse - repeat.

PC gaming has the technology where the products are demonstrated and pushed, but now we have consoles that have closed the gap to the point where PC's are no longer needed to get creative. Or so it seems that way. It won't last though. Peoples expectations are too high and MW2 might be awesome, but I seriously doubt the static technology of the 360/PS3 will support another COD game with the same hype and with no sign of a next generation consoles I fully expect developers to emerge for the PC in the coming years.

So yes we may be more of a hindrance, but only to those developers with there best work behind them, who are chasing the mega bucks. Bring on the next Cryotek or Valve or other up and coming developer where PC development means something.

Having said that I loved COD4. The single player game was awesome, but did not like the multilayer much. Much preferred the original COD and still play it to this day occasionally

Because consoles SUPPORT DX 10.1 or DX 11?
Because consoles SUPPORT PHYSX?
Because consoles can run something like Crysis on FULL graphics, with full AA/AF at 60fps? :D

Because consoles are so creative you don't even need a PC to create a game, you can run all your development tools on the console?

Well fourzerotwo has a site up here http://www.fourzerotwo.com/?p=745#idc-ctools

Some of his comments are laughable, one of them is "We didnt forget our roots (referring to pc obviously) we just chose to pour weedkiller on them. Says it all really..and this tard is meant to be their pr lead...

had to laugh at this guys reponse:

I want to meet these mythical creatures who have difficulty navigating a server browser.
:p

I don't mean to fuel the argument here, but DirectX 10 and PhysX have hardly made any impact on gaming whatsoever, a poor example to demonstrate PC's awesomeness!!1 :p

I clearly said DX 10.1 not DX10.

10.1 has all the benefits of 10 (looking MUCH better than 9) without the downsides of being slow.

Piracy - This doesn't solve it. WoW servers are still pirated and that's about as controlled as you get.

Hacking - There will always be hacks not detectable, IW.NET doesn't fix this in any way.

Community - This closes down the community aspect of CoD, I used to be able to go in servers I knew people played in. I'd get a hello, and start a chat as a result of playing on these servers regularly. There's also a hell of a lot of respect given.

Recruitment, Clan Public Servers - How are you supposed to know whether you'd like to join a clan unless you see them in action? Usually people will join the public server and simply spectate the players. Rather than things being "group" based, it's all gone down to individual players in my opinion. The only way around this I can really see, is by adding every person in a specific clan to your friend's list and invite them to a game? It's just stupid.

I signed the petition last night, it completely dulls down the community and wide aspect CoD has always had. I've been in some professional clans down the line, played at LAN's but also played quite casually during busy periods of my life in CoD Vanilla, CoD2 and CoD4, so I have quite a wide view of what people want but this is just a load of crap.

I personally think it will stop people competing, what is the point in attending a LAN event when you don't get the benefit of a LAN (latency) and just connect to IWNET servers? It would also prevent any LAN event administrators from having any real control over the matches. Overtime anyone? Have they even thought about what competitive gamers want? I guarantee overtime will not even be implemented for matches. Mods are what made CoD4, PAM and Promod saved it in a competitive view, I would have been very annoyed if after a 3 kill streak everyone got a special to activate.

I know they're giving the option to turn this on and off, but who the hell wants to go through a load of settings every time they start a game? Just set it up and leave it, as on dedicated servers.

Bit of a rant there, but i'm just venting as I've looked forward to this title for ages, it seems the Vivendi merger has made a bit of an impression.

Of course computers are still needed for the development and such. I was referring to gaming technology displayed on PC's vs that on consoles. It's not like in the late 90's where the PSX was unable to put out games like HL or Soldier of Fortune with the same qualities as the PC. The gap is closer, but maybe this is only because of the period we are in and things will change due to those reasons you listed.

The gap is closer

Most pc's can't do any of those things.

also he said you don;t need the power of a high end pc to get creative like you used to which is true.

Seriously this attempt at a pop on consoles is pathetic rypt.

closer not closed.

Do you just intentionaly misinterpret what people say?

Also again most home pcs, even most gaming pc's can't replicate those screen shots at that ress so it's an invalid argument.

Most pc's can't do any of those things.

MOST modern PCs can handle at least DX10, anything ATi can handle DX 10.1 ... anything brand new can do DX11.
PhysX support only costs about £20 for an old NV card, or free if you already use NV as your main card

The point is, PCs have potential to go from something that is better than a console to something that is a lot better than a console.
Crysis still sold pretty well, not far of COD4 PC sales figures afaik.

But they can still run a lot better than consoles do you cant deny that.

Consoles have their place though, but there is no reason the PC games should be cut down to their levels.

No they can;t, most people still aren't in the dx10 kind of gfx card range.

yes while a £20 NV card will run physix it wont run it at anything like a playable rate.
