How about some generous chappy buys 1 copy, sells it on MM once SP is complete, and then the next person keeps on selling it (for a few £ less each time) until it does the rounds of most of the OcUK forum?

Bonuses:

1. IW cant moan about piracy, as its a legitimate sale.
2. We all get to play the (probably) excellent SP game, for little money.
3. IW gets a lot less money than they deserve, as payback for gimping the MP aspect of a massively popular and profitable franchise.
4. Profit???

Seriously, can anyone see any bad side to this? :p :D

yes, someone has to buy the game. Thus giving Infinity Ward money.

Agreed, thats the only down side I can see. But we could post them a link to the MM thread once it gets to about 1,000 sales between us all :p

i assumed you meant you were keeping it on your drive after youd sold it never mind :p

Technically one could, which would just amount to no better than piracy really.

I'd happily uninstall it after playing through, and then if I wanted to play it again maybe buy my own copy once it hits bargain basement (which the PC version is very likely to do, as the market will be flooded with 2nd hand copies as there's no longevity to the game.)

The single player is the only thing anyone would want this game for seeing as Infinity Wart have ruined the mulitplayer and then it's only going to last 6-10hrs is that worth £34.00? I don't think so. I would have gladly paid a lot more if the game had the dedicated server option.

Also is it illegal to sell on your legitimate copy of MW2 once you've finished the single player or have IW moved the goal posts once again?

I feel we are being pushed towards buying a console if we want to play our game of choice I see no reason to keep my PC updated when all I'm doing is playing a console conversion with a crippled multiplayer. It's been bad enough the last few years I really do believe that consoles have held PC gaming tech back.

COD4 could be played through in 4 hours.

still think people should just wait and see how it works when it's out.
they wouldnt shoot themselves in the foot for no reason.

True, but it also had a fully functioning multiplayer which has kept it going and probably will do so for a few more years yet :D

That's my point.
If MW2 has only the same amount of SP time then many will not think its worth it as the multi player side has less to offer than before.

£34.99 for 6 hours of SP, it's a joke.

Dragon Age is 80-100 hours, even blasting through the main campaign is going to be 30+ hours.

If people are worried that dedicated servers are not going to be part of the game then they should not buy it of course, they should wait and see what others say. IW have already said they will not add them in and I really don't think they will. They are hardly likely to change their whole marketing and product just because a few thousand "Nerds" as we were called, are fed up.

So what are the chances of Infinity Ward bowing to this boycott pressure and giving MW2 dedicated servers?

Surely they must have seen the huge pre-order cancellations?
