Whats the general opinion of these ?

Saw this one to start with:

19" Digimate L-1916D

Then

19" Digimate L-1918

Only diff I can see is that the 1918 has a 12ms response whereas the 1916D is a 16ms

So any good ?
For movies/games ?

Theres only a 12 quid or so diff between the two.

Also any other suggestions for around £150?

I did see another for around 120 (17") but the contrast was 400:1 which sounded a wee bit low tbh.

I have the Digimate L-1718, which has a 12ms response and 500:1 contrast. For what I payed (£125) a year ago it is a very good screen.
Although if you look there are 8ms models as well now.

I say spend £20 more and get the Acer 19inch widescreen, saw one tody and they are bigger than I thought

What does the acer have over the digimates ?

the acers contrast is only 500:1 whreas the Digis are 700:1

Acer only has vga and the digis have vga/dvi

Anyone got the actual measurements of the 19" acer ? hxl?

Or and im doubting this...

Are there any monitors in this price range with svideo in or anythin so I can hook my consoles up?

I've got the Digimate L-1916. I bought it second hand a few months ago and I'm very impressed

The screen itself looks hideous - huge unsightly bezel and dreadful stand. This is only a very small point though as the actual quality of the display is very good

The display is appalling on analogue. Fuzzy display, indistinct colours, shadowing, the works. I spent about an hour playing with the settings and I couldn't get it any better - there is no way that you could ever use the display on the analogue input

The DVI input is a different case entirely. Crisp display, excellent colours, clear text, very good. I was pleasantly surprised as I wasn't expecting the display to be as good as this!

I briefly played HL2 on it just to see (it isn't my main monitor) and there was very little ghosting. The ghosting is far more evident in windows use compared to my 8ms Xerox, but not so much in games. It's far better than my old 25ms ViewSonic which was unusable. Viewing angles aren't bad either

All in all very impressed. They seem to be a bit touch and go as I saw a 17" model (no DVI) and it wasn't good.

I've never tried the inbuilt speakers but I'd imagine that they aren't up to much

Without a shadow of doubt the worst Screen I have ever seen. Ordered a 1918 and connected it via DVI. First thing I noticed was the Screen was extremely bright turned the brightness down and the colours looked washed out. One permanently lit Pixel and lost count of the number of defective sub-pixels. If anybody wants to know about the term ghosting this screen would define it. Ergonomics-wise I would think twice about using one for a Garage based File Server.

If anyone thinks I may be somewhat exaggerating should do some research on Google groups and you will see the type of quality problems people are having with these particular Screens. Mine went back after 2 hours use!

I bought a Digimate L-1916 about six months ago and I'm afraid to say it went back the very next day. It was the 16 ms TN Film panel version - they're probably using an updated panel in it now. Anyway, the build quality was questionable - in particular the backlight showed through really badly. I also didn't like the picture much.

Compared to the SM913B I bought a few weeks later, the Digimate was pretty poor. Since the SM913N (same as 913B but without DVI) is more or less the same price as the Digimates, I would go for the Samsung.

Stand is very limited, only rocks forward/backwards a few degrees and it doesn't go up and down, so there's no way to put a centre speaker under it. Bezel is big by todays standards. I also had some dodgy sub-pixels on mine, but as it happened the main reason mine went back was that it was also just plain faulty. Using the DVI I'd get random flashing pixels (anything from 10-40 of them) and weird green horizontal lines.

Any screen can be faulty though of course.

Haven't recieved mine yet, but from the reviews and people's experiences it's a damn good monitor for the price.
