If there is a flash exposure compensation anywhere, try adjusting that.

If not, put a piece of white A4 over it, might diffuse it a bit :)

Ok, I may try the exposure compensation!

What exactly does the exposure compensation mean? Does it mean the flash lenght it reduced? Or should the shutter be open for less time?

No no, not exposure compensation, it has to be flash exposure compensation otherwise it won't do what you're looking for it to do. They are different things.

If you are manually setting everything (including shutter, aperture, iso) then having the shutter open less time will help but im guessing the camera is deciding most of this for.

I'm thinking it's likely your camera wont have FEC so i'd say your best bet is either to fiddle around in full manual mode a bit until it comes out right or try the paper :p
