digital license for win 10

I recently upgraded my son's PC - new mobo, cpu, SSD and ram. i've reinstalled win 8.0 but the free offer for win 10, which was on the previous machine has expired. I've tried upgrading it to win 10 but the free update won't work. Is there any way to upgrade the win 8 version to win 10 or do i now need to buy the OEM version?

If the latter, is there a trusted site to get a digital product key? Amazon site sells win 10 (microsoft is the seller) but lots of complaints that the product key is already in use,

What do you mean it won't work? Did you get an error?

I used the method last week and it worked fine.

Simply install Win10 and, when it asks for a key, enter your Win8 licence. If you haven't got a Win10 installer, simply download it from the second link scrivz69 posted above.
