This is a little off topic but im not sure any other forums, if anyone can reco me some better forums to ask in then please do.

I want to get into digital recording, I want a mixer which I can connect to my computer and record with Cubase so that every channel on the mixer goes onto a different channel on the software.

Anyway, I dont understand what would be needed to do this?

Midi?

Also, can someone explain to me what this word clock thing is?

Im thinking of getting the Behringer DDX 3216, so what would I use on that to connect it to my comp, thanks.

My bands Behringer has had to go back 4 times to be repaired and you need another addon to do the seperate tracks thing. You can do four seperate channels but need the addon for more.

My mates band recently bought a Yamaha mixer from Sound Control that does all you ask but I can't find it on the website.

If you find out what mixer it is please let me know as I may be interested in buying one myself.

You could just get a decent soundcard with lots of inputs and use that to record to different channels in Cubase, Something like the M Audio Delta 1010lt.

Midi is for sending signals to midi equipemnt like synths and cubase only records midi information not actual sounds via midi, think of it as the notes pressed on a keyboard and these are sent to cubase to play the notes on the synth.

World Clock is to do with midi timing I think.
