Digital Zoom on a video

Is there an advantage to digital zoom on a video camera over just zooming in afterwards on the computer ?

I bought a KT&C bullet camera KT&C KPC-HD230CWX and didn't get the remote as it said it was a long lead. I now wish I had

Incidentally what's the best bullet camera or inconspicuous camera I can buy ?

Without knowing properly I'd take a guess at saying it's better to digitally zoom in camera rather than in the edit.

advantages is that its 'easier' to get the zoomed in effect, ie no messing with edit points and changing size variables etc

downsides, if its digital zoom and not optical then the quality is horrible, stick to the optical limits of the camera and if you really have to get closer at the expense of image quality then do it at the editing stage
