Hi all,

I've been asked if I can convert VHS to digital, as it happens we didn't throw out the VHS player 2 days ago because we spoke about doing our own family movies from decades ago.

I've a VHS player with a scart and RF in and out. I've a R270, 270x or 280 (not sure which it is)

What hardware/software do I need to rip these VHS to my harddrive?

i bought a device, forget the make, dazzle rings a bell, which enabled me to plug the video player into one end and then went into USB the other, then used the software which came with it to save on to pc.

takes quite a bit of space up to do it. I did a load of camcorder tapes.

try googling dazzle fusion, / dazzle pinnacle

I'll second that suggestion, I've used one of those with great success. Magnetic media degrades so it's important that people digitise important footage.

i bought a cheap DVD recorder for £30 a couple of years ago and keep it in the loft for purely this job. Two scart leads - click play on one and record on the other, job done.

It usually means that your front menus are pretty basic, but if you want to do something nicer afterwards then DVDtoAVI will convert the dvd for free once you have finalised it.
