Doubt many of you will know, or even heard of a man named ODEE. He's the team manager of Team Dignitas, arguably one of the oldest, largest and well known Professional Gaming Outfits.

Unfortunately he's had a bit of a family tragedy caused by a house fire. I won't go into all the details, but a video put up by TotalBiscuit is below.

Don't take this as a cry out for help, but TB has kindly put up a "chipin" page accepting donations for ODEE, his partner and children - it seems their house, and all their possessions within it, is a total loss.

Can't bear to think about that kind of situation, least of all for his kids.

As I said and fully agree

House insurance will cover any losses and probably a few items more....

This 15k may tide him over until he gets that cash, but why does he more than any average joe who is involved in a fire deserve a donation thread?

Normal 'non esports' people don't all earn a lot of money, say 20k per year... they will get on with it, maybe family help and then wait for the insurance money to get them on track.

He should hand that 15k to a charity for burns or something - whether he asked for it or not.

Yes, he has house insurance, but like any insurance company, the payout will be in months, not days.

This isn't a donation thread, if it was perceived like that then I apologise. It was merely to draw attention to it; I've met and gotten to know ODEE personally, he's a lovely chat that has done so much for the professional UK gaming scene that it would be hard for anyone to have something bad to say about him.

TB set the donation page up primarily for his kids - as already said, everything they owned was in that house, including all the Christmas gear and presents for the children. I don't know about you, but I'd hate for that to happen to anyone.

To those speculating about his "earnings", I won't give you hard facts because it is personal, however if you think they are "living the high life" and earning a lot of money, you're a fool. Highly popular gamers (the likes of SpawN, Heaton, etc) are the only people that make worthwhile money in this industry. The team managers take barely any money at all - I can also say that from personal connections with the owner of what was "alltherage", if anyone remembers them.

Thread's obviously run it's course, may as well delete it thanks to the negativity.

This.

No respect for people who take advantage of the position they're in.

Read the thread or watch the video then. This isn't something that was done by ODEE, it was something the community has done to give back to him in this time of need, primarily for his children's sake.
