So at the moment I have Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-17100C11.

I want to double up to 16GB

So do I sell the 8GB I have already and buy 2x8GB, or just go for the cheaper option of adding 2 more sticks of 4GB?

Would there be any performance issues having 4 sticks of 4GB; say would my CR drop from 1T to 2T, etc....

In theory 2 sticks would be better, less strain on the IMC if overclocking etc, but in reality should be no issue with 4 sticks, despite what others will say.

As long as the sticks are all the same you shouldn't have to change timings. You may have to add a notch or two extra IMC voltage (I didn't need to) but that's about it. Four sticks make no difference to my max overclock of 4.8Ghz.
