dilema - pls any help?

hi my pc has been a real pain the last 3 or 4 days.

it started with the common cold equivalant of random restarts and crashes. usually only a few mins after booting into the computer, this was after a ms windows update so i figured it would be realted.


decided its been a while since i resintalled windows backed up everything and reinstalled.

the random restarts didnt persists so i was pretty happy it was a software issue.

once i got it up and running i rebooted after updateing to service pack 2.

the pc wouldnt boot.

i get 1 beep from the board and think oh noes...

replaced *** board with an old one i thought was faulty.... it was faulty and still didnt work.

put back in the orignal board and it boots up ok np.

then 2 days later i reboot after installing java runtime to use *** hushmail encyption engine and i get the single beep again and no joy.

gonna leave it for a bit incase its heat related or to see if it can work thru it.

any sugestions on whats wrong??

i htought maybe ram or something for it to randomly crash when i was using more ram intesive aps but sometimes it was just siting there.

any help would be grand.
