Dilemma! Help me choose a CPU.

So I went and ordered 2 processors, 1 of which wasnt in stock so didnt think I would be getting it but lo and behold they both arrived today. Obviously cant be affording them both so will be sending one back. I am hoping you knowledgeable people can help me decide which may be the better one to keep. I know overclocking isnt a science but an informed guess is better than an uninformed one.

I plan to overclock the hell out of the processor I am keeping. I am running an Opty 148 @ 2.9ghz stock volts at the moment, on an A8N32-SLi with Mushkin Redline Extreme PC-4000 DDR. For cooling I have a TT Big Typhoon and a Freezer 64 Pro, although will probably stick with the TT.

Anyway the two processors in question are:

X2 4400+ - CCBWE 0546SPMW
Opteron 165 - CCBBE 0610DPMW

I'd stick with the oppy. Masses of overclocking potential. The x2 chips arent bad, but its luck of the draw on whether you get a nice CPU. I was lucky enough to get such a chip and have clocked it to 2.4ghz with no significant increase in temps (might be worth mentioning that this is on air).

Anyway...Stick with the Oppy!

I ran both on the same mobo. The opty will be better. Loads of headroom on that board for pushing the HTT. Will be a nice setup

The opty will clock higher on less volts I would have thought.
