So just the other day I sold my 1070. I'd been thinking about it for a few weeks and with the 1070ti coming out this week i was worried this would push the price of the 1070 down and I'd have to sell for less, so thought I'd do better by selling now, which I did and happy with what I got for it.

This means I'm now GPU less. I currently have a 1440p 144hz screen so I'm thinking 1080ti, yes a 1080 would manage but I'd like to not worry about it for a few years hence the ti.

My issue is should I buy now or wait to see how the 1070ti the impacts prices. But I have a feeling only 1070 and below will be impacted.

Any thoughts or advice?

Bit of a weird strategy to be honest, the price wouldn't have been pushed down that much. If you have funds for a 1080ti just get that as the 1070ti isn't going to outperform a 1080.

Yeah I didn't expect a massive change but if the 1070 dropped just a little tricky 2nd hand prices would have been down around the £300. And I managed to sell for close to what I paid so made sense to me. But yeah 1080ti is what I'm looking at but wasn't sure if I'd be better giving it a week and see if the new release has any impact

1080ti prices likely won't be impacted until the next gen is imminent/arrived so go for it.

depends, they have cut down on chip production and GDDR5X is limited in supply- Gibbo himself has mentioned OCUK went and acquired a LOT of Ti stock- and you can see prices slowly creep up- such as the Gigabte OC Black which Gibbo bought in - after Pre sale promo was still the cheapest 3rd party Board but now has slowly crept up in price- few flagships have too

Yeah I'm to thinking best to just buy now and I won't have a need for Volta at 1440p so I should be set for a good while

Question now is which ti. I'm thinking the strix as it matches my build. But would it be worth the extra to buy the oc version. The ftw 3 also caught my eye but from what I've read they tend to be a little noisier and a little warmer.

Well after an afternoon on Google I've ordered the strix 1080ti oc edition. Should be here tomorrow thanks to overclockers. Fingers crossed for no could whine as I've heard a few suffer from this
