Hi,

Got a bit of a dilemma when it comes to graphic cards (don't we all). I currently run a 980GTX I picked up for pocket change about a year ago. As I understand, it's still one of the better cards out there. Seeing I got such a great price on it, I can actually sell it now and make about £130 profit on it. Not bad for a year worth of gaming.

Which will leave me about £40-70 away from a 980Ti, depending on the time of the month (people here seem to sell quite a bit when mortgage time comes around :p ).

I guess my options are to;

1. sell it and spend a few pennies and get a Ti.
2. sell it and wait for whenever the latest cards releases (dunno when). Which will also mean no gaming until then.
3. Keep it and sell it when the new cards hit and at least get my money back and maybe even turn a small profit.

So, any idea when the new cards are due? Also, is there a big enough difference in GTX v Ti performance to warrant all the rigmarole?

Cheers

Your GTX 980 is worth about £250 ish on the MM. ti's are going for £420-£450. The ti is a decent upgrade with a full fat maxwell and more memory. However with ti's holding thier value I would wait until the new cards come out.

Hi,

Not on the MM you won't, i believe selling for profit is a no no there.

I'm in NZ. As such I've not used the MM for over 2 years with no familiarity of prices in the UK since I left. The prices here in NZ is a bit different due to limited population size and cards commanding higher prices.

You wouldnt get £250 for a 980 when the new cards come out.

If I were you I`d sell it get a 980ti as that will be worth more than a 980 when the new cards come out. Also when they do come out probably find the 980ti is still a good card and plays all the latest games.

I`m planning to skip the Pascal release, wait till the one after that comes out then decide whether to buy the next gen Pascal or pickup a cheap Pascal in the sales. Dont see the point in keeping up with the Jones considering the games I play.

If it's an upgrade for next to nothing, then go for it. It's a big boost going from 980 to Ti.

As for the profit issue, I'm pretty sure if you bought it cheap on the MM then you can't sell for more than you paid. However, if you bought elsewhere then you should be able to sell for the going rate.
