Heres a distributed computing project that can happily run along side your current one as it doesn't require much cpu power. It makes use of your internet bandwidth by pinging hosts to help study the structure of the internet.

We currently have a team in 141st place, hopefully together we can get higher up the ranks.

Although it uses your internet i have never noticed any slowdown in my internet speeds by using this (2mbit), although i don't know how a 56k modem would fare.

One small problem with this however, it seems zonealarm standard refuses to allow it to connect. Fortunately i now use sygate firewall along with peerguardian instead.

I ran it for a while then it got really bad at connecting, I've tried it again and it won't connect at all. I blame it on tiscali myself, I think they might be blocking it or something (b***** useles ******** )

edit: I set up the team, I hope that doesn't upset anyone, only I was running it when I started and I added the team to add stats to the DC Vault stats site

edit2: I did one for Muon 1 too. stick [OcUK] in front of your user name to join http://www.stephenbrooks.org/muon1
