Been quite a while since I upgraded or even used my pc for gaming

Currently running 3700x, 16gb and a vega 64

Where do you see the best value proposition to change the card for casual 4k gaming? Let’s say cyberpunk

I am considering 4070 if that helps

With that CPU yes it may be an impact but at 4K with that card you will be very GPU limited on that game anyway. Especially if you plan to use ray tracing.

Here is an older CPU test that includes 4K ultra RT results in a 3090. You can see that a 3950X CPU barely causes problems at such high resolution and this is in a GPU that is still better than a 4070.

So in short, for casual 4K gaming in CP2077, your CPU/GPU combo is weak enough for it not to matter. If you start using upscaling check out the 1080p and 1440p charts linked to get ideas on how performance is impacted.

You'll probably get away with a 5000 series x3d chip at 4k for now. Works well for plenty of people. Maybe pick it up cheap 2nd hand? Or go for a 7000/9000 series x3d cpu.

I found my previous 5950x was holding the rtx 4090 back at 4k.

I think you should buy a 5800X3D if you're going to stay on AM4, I had a 3700x and even at 4k I could see the difference with the 5800x3d.
