Hi guys,

What do you think is the widest table that would fit in this space?

Room Dimensions
Full room:
3.12m x 5.82m
Dining area only length: 2.5m
Width lost when door open: 0.42m (it won't open all the way to the wall due to the hinges)

Cheers

If it's a 3.12m room, id say it's still cramped with 600mm either side, thus circa 1.8m width (I assume you mean length?) as per drawn picture). You would also want chairs that tuck in well.

One thing to think about is how many people will normally be seated at the table. We moved our dining table into the kitchen (dining room got converted into a playroom) but have it set to the shorter length and then put long edge against a wall so it doesn't encroach on the room too much. It then only seats 4 but we have the option of pulling it out on the rare occasions we want to seat five or more people.

I think 1m around the table in each direction is about right so you can actually get sat down and allow people to get up and out easily.

Thanks guys. At the minute we have a 140cm x 80cm clear glass top table which can sit 4 people normally or 6 people at a push. However, we've seen a 170cm x 100cm white glass top table that we love and can get an amazing price for. It is 80cm at the ends and then 100cm in the middle as it curves outwards. I just think it is going to be too wide compared to the space in the room :( We do have the option of buying it, bringing it home and, then if we don't like it, selling it but I assume we will lose money on it. We also have white leather chairs with walnut backs so will probably need to new chairs...

Not knowing what your house is like but could you consider removing the door and having an open frame into what i presume is the hallway?

Not ideal for things like smells escaping but could give more room.
