Dinosaurs are not real :(

Is there anybody on here that bielives that fossils were planted by god? would genuinely like to hear from you

If you believe in god (and several billion do) then he created the heavens and the earth therefore it is possible that he did plant the tree which is now a fossil :p

I have heard that theory that the earth is only 6000 years old and like another theory that i disagree with, they seem to have an answer for everything. Apparently carbon dating is not accurate and the reason how dinosaurs and people existed at the same time was that there was more oxygen in the atmosphere so man was larger than he is now and when the great flood came, that killed the dinosaurs.

Take a close look at all the religious Christmas claptrap & all the fantasy stuff in the bible, Take the 3 kings, wise men or Maji whatever that are featured in the nativity.
There is no mention whatsoever of these men for 200 years or so, that's right 200 years go by until some bloke called Mathew with a vivid imagination writes about them.
There is however no mention that there were three, just that they carried 3 gifts, they also followed a star that kept moving until it hovered over Bethlehem

Christians love their crucifix with its little model of Jesus nailed to it, however how many of them know that the Romans didn't use crosses like that, they used one shaped like the letter T

When my parents lived in the US a few years ago they had a neighbour who claimed to have traced their family tree back to Adam and Eve. I wouldn't even be able to choose a thread to start pulling on to unravel that one.

I think this actually has some weird vague very possible long drawn out concept.

Edit: Found it.

I know Wiki is not the best source, but it gives a rough outline..

Just been chatting to this american guy at work from Denevr who is very very relgious.

We got chatting and i asked him how old the earth is according to the bible ( i think he said 6k years old or something)

anyway i asked why we have fossils of dinousaurs that have been carbondated over 30 million years old and he told me that God planted the fossils on the earth as a test to see who keeps the faith.

I asked him why god was so mischievous and he declined to comment. Tried talking about the Universe (planets, galaxies etc...) and he just refused to comment on anything.

I had this very discussion with a girl in my GCSE science class several years ago, her response was similar, except she reckoned that the devil put them there to try and trick us into not believing in god.

I find it incredible that people dismiss carbon dating, our understanding of chemistry/physics & astronomy - the entire scientific method which has allowed people to use TV's cars, planes & electricity.

Why don't people understand that the same scientific method which has PROVEN that our earth is more than 6000 years old - is the method which developed the technology which allows them to type on this forum & deny those very facts.

The perfect responses to any possible logical argument:

"God works in mysterious ways"

"God did it to test our faith"

"The devil did it to trick us"

Say what you want scientists, faith transcends everything.

Sure it does, but that doesn't mean it's right. It just means somebody has faith in a belief they have no proof of. Just 'knowing' isn't proof.

I've no issue with people's faith at all - organised religion however has a lot to answer for.

In fact I have X-Files faith - I want to believe :p

As for the 'God did it' - brilliant excuse for an out of wedlock/adulterous pregnancy?

You should have pointed out that only Noah & his clan survived the great flood that wiped out all life on Earth  so their ancestors must have been stowaways

The old testament really should come with a disclaimer...

"Dramatisation; may not have happened"

or

"All characters and events appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real events or real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental."

Either is accurate :p

Your beliefs may differ from those that others hold but we do ask that you show them some tolerance and do not post deliberately disrespectful or inflammatory comments about other peoples beliefs. The issue of beliefs is a sensitive one for many people and this does not mean that there can be no criticism of religion but do think about how you present your arguments.

Generally or genuinely?

Basically, he's an idiot :)

Missed staff meetings? (sorry had to point out the irony :P)

Why are you lot so surprised at someone believing something different? Just let them get on with it and stop worrying.

There's one of these posts in almost every thread in GD.

If we actually obeyed this post, there wouldn't be a GD!

I listened to something on radio 4 a while ago, this bloke basicly said sience and carbondating was not real and could not prove a thing!!
