Dinosaurs on the Ark!

They are funny, a T-Rex living next to Noah yet lives on chicken feed to stay alive. :p

on a more serious note, if they are blending science and the bible then surely simple biology tells you that 1 pair of a species don't have a big enough gene pool to repopulate.

I dont know weather or not Dinosaurs were on the ark but im pretty sure it said in the bible that God had made the vicious animals controllable while Noah was getting 2 of every kind and while being on the ark.

The scariest bit of the whole article?

Right down at the bottom...:

"Three of 10 Republican presidential candidates said in a recent debate that they did not believe in evolution."

Whatever next?

They'll come up with a bullet proof theory that doesn't involve or surround the comment of "God Did It".

Now that will be the day Darwin turns is his coffin, at such high speed, he'll generate enough electromagnetic charge to cause a termal implosion of this planet God supposedly created in 7 days...

Oh well, God will just have to work for another 7 days, again.

Love creationism. My Seventh day adventist buddy once told me fossils are the tool of the devil put here to confuse and lead man astray and by having an interest in dinosaurs i've committed my soul to hell... He also harped a lot about a femur supposedly found of 'giant men' that once ruled the earth, see here http://www.stevequayle.com/Giants/pics/giant.femur.html , however he refuses to look at at this page http://www.kent-hovind.com/articles/them_bones.htm

Dinosaur Adventure Land (operated by Kent Hovind) has a "Creation Museum" displaying what is claimed to be a "thigh bone from the 13 foot man" (right [1]). The bone is leaning against the right side of the case.

This bone can also be seen in Hovind's Creation Seminar Series as either a direct reference and/or a permanent set decoration during Parts 2, 6 and 7.

Capture 1 Thigh bone found in Egypt? [8]

Capture 2 Thigh bone takes pride of place [9]

Capture 3 Hovind directly referring to thigh bone [10]

During Part 7 of the Seminar Series Hovind points to the bone and says;

"[...] like this thigh bone here over my head which is from a human which would have been nearly 13 feet tall. [...] That would have been a 13 foot human. Well, if only a fragment of that bone was found nobody would believe it came from a human if they believed in evolution." [10]

There is an interesting story behind this bone.

Firstly, it is not a real bone. Hovind acknowledges this in Part 2 of his video series; "thigh bone replica from a giant skeleton". [8] While it is not uncommon for museums to use replicas for preservation and security reasons, this replica is not based upon an artifact. There is no "giant skeleton". There isn't a single bone. There isn't even a bone fragment.

So where did this "bone" come from? The source is the imagination of Joe Taylor of Mt Blanco Museum. Taylor received a letter [2] claiming large skeletons were found during road construction in Turkey. Other sources [3][4] claim this "discovery" was made in the 1950's but no references are provided. And like most such stories actual physical artifacts are absent. Hovind claims this "bone" was found in Egypt [8]. Egypt? Turkey? Confused yet? (See also Ed Babinski's comments)

However, the absence of an actual bone didn't stop Taylor. He modeled the femur (thigh bone) on the normal skeleton of "one of the Malachite Man females" [2] (also known as Moab Man) which he has in his collection. Because women's femurs have slight variations to men's [6] Hovind's "13 foot man" is actually a woman.

But by only doubling all of the dimensions of a regular femur Taylor has ignored basic anatomical proportion. The square-cube law observes that doubling the dimensions of an organism increase its mass (volume of body) eight-fold. [5] Bones of creatures like elephants are so thick relative to length because it is the cross-section of the bone which carries the load. If our giant human remained in proportion, her femur would need to have eight times the cross-section of a regular femur to support the increased load. Taylor has only given her half of the strength she would need. This also means all of the bones of the skeleton poster (see photo) have the wrong proportions.

Taylor sells these 2:1 scale models of a normal femur for US$450 A poster of a 2:1 sketch of a normal skeleton costs $50 extra.[2]

So in summary, Taylor made an oversized replica of a normal human femur to represent a bone whose only evidence of existence is a letter based upon rumor. Additionally, the proportions of the bone are wrong. Then along comes Kent Hovind who tries to pass off this fantasy as science and manages to turn a woman into a man in the process.

Doesn't quite make sense to me. They don't believe our theory of evolution is correct? Or they refuse to believe species have actually evolved in the first place?

I wonder if they believe in mavity? We only have a theory surrounding mavity too.

Confusing. God extends Noah's life and allows him to live until he's what, 300? God subdues and rounds up all the animals and any other living thing that would require to take refuge in the boat. I've even heard God fabricated all of the wood for Noah. I would have expected that, considering the boat would probably require millions of planks of wood, something a 300 year old man may struggle to sort out. God helps Noah out so much, why not just do it himself?

In my eyes, whether a museum is opened or not there are still some major problems with the Noah's Ark event. If it's a fable fair enough, but if it's a real live event like some creationist say, why do they never answer the following question without simply saying; God works in mysterious ways?

Two of every species, right? If you believe in this level of creationism, God made the different varieties of species too, as apparently evolution is a lie and never took place. Noah just didn't save the "bat", he must have saved two of every species of bat, right? There are 1100 types of bat, times by two. So, for one animal, we already have clocked up 2,200 creatures to go in the boat. How BIG was this boat? Let's take a look at some rough figures.

6,000 species of reptile. X2
1,000 amphibians. X2
15,000 mammals. X2

I'm guessing we can ignore 20,000 species of fish, despite flooding the Earth would probably kill the fish. Immense under currents, diseased infested water, huge temperature changes in delicate eco-systems. But we'll ignore all that.

How about the 9,000 species of bird? They left off too? As they can fly right? For 40 days and 40 nights solid? What about the penguins? Has nobody thought about the penguins? Lets ignore that too and focus on stuff in the boat.

44,000 individual creatures. So, Noah managed to build an Ark big enough to support 44,000 creatures? Noah managed to organise how to feed and water 44,000 creatures? He obviously didn't feed them the flood water as it would be seriously contaminated from all the dead bodies and terrain, so he must have had enough water and food to feed 44,000 creatures for 40 days and 40 nights? Big pantry. Oh, and animals crap and urinate frequently too, so he's got a lot of urine and faeces to mop up. Pardon me for being sceptical. ;)

I heard the interview with the creator of this museum on the morning show on radio4. Just another misguided, ignorant fool.

Didn't hear the interview. But he could be very shrewd and about to make a whole lot of money too... (dumbest thing I've ever seen though)

That's impossible, I have discovered a reconstruction of what would happen....

I don't disagree that he's a shrewd business man. After all, religion has always been about getting money out of the masses. He was pretty fanatical though, and whilst he may have realised how much money he can scam out of the situation, he fairly convinced me that he believed what he was talking about.

Edit: ^Tru wins the post of the week award ;)

Surely if god created all the animals he could have just flooded the place then sorted it out again in a day.

That's why I'm convinced that Noah used "technology" and merely stored the DNA of each animal on a computer or something, and the ark itself was just for his family to live in
